Typhoon No,11 is forecasted to get close to Fukuoka early next week. We have been so lucky this summer to have had very few natural disasters this summer, except for the intensive heat and skyrocketing Covid-19 infection, but we seem to finally face the threat of nature. The typhoon's central pressure is currently 920 hPa and is expected to go up to 950 hPa by the time it gets closer to Fukuoka. Maximum wind speed is expected to be 40 m/s, so I will be taking the clothesline and rubbish bins outside into the house by Sunday evening.
I heard that the Russians are conducting military exercises in the Sea of Japan until the 7th. They have their own causes and reasons to do so, but I don't think it is a good idea to be on this particular ocean in this particular period. Russian (and Chinese, and possibly Indian and so on) boys and girls could be exposed to unnecessary danger, let alone terrible seasick. If only the Russians knew the Genko myth took place1000 years ago: Mongolian forces tried to invade Japan from the coastlines but were blown away by typhoons （the original Kamikaze, I guess).
台風11号が来週早々に福岡に接近しそうです。すくこの地方は今年、暑さとCovid-19を除いてはものすごい自然災害が少なかったのですが、ついに自然の驚異にさらされることになりそうです。台風の中心気圧は今のところ920hpa、この辺に来るころには950hpaになりそうです。最大風速40m/sとの予報が出ているので、日曜日中に外に出ている物干しざおやごみ箱を家の中にしまうつもりです。
ロシア軍は7日まで日本海で軍事演習するらしいけど、本当にやるのかなあ？別にこのタイミングで、この場所でやんなくても…。若い人たちが船酔いどころではない危険にさらされるのでは...。ロシア人が元寇のことを（1000年前にモンゴルの軍隊が台風にやられたというお話）知っていればいいんだけど。

snacks to peck at, I am ready to take shelter at home until Wednesday unless this place is blown away.

The Typhoon No. 11 has finally passed. It became an extratropical cyclone at the northeast coast of Japan in this afternoon.

After a week of suffocatingly hot and humid weather, it finally became clear and bright. How refreshing today's breeze is!
台風11号がやっとこのあたりから離れてくれました。今日の午後、東北地方の沖で熱帯低気圧になったそうです。
今回は台風の前に窒息しそうな蒸し暑さが1週間も続きましたが、今日は久しぶりに晴れて、すがすがしい風が吹きました。

After a brief relief, another typhoon, No. 12, was born, taking a very similar direction with its predecessor. This one seems to be smaller and weaker (forecasted to develop to 975 hPa in couple of days' time). I hope we will be as lucky as we were last time when no major damage due to the typhoon was reported (
as long as I know).

Do You Remember Him? ― 2022/09/09
To be perfectly honest, I was surprised but didn't feel much loss when former Prime Minister Mr. Abe was shot dead.
But having witnessed the recent "state funeral” mess, I began to feel sorry for him, not for his tragic death, but for the humiliation he has received after passing away.
If Mr. Kishida had not declared to hold the event so swiftly, Mr. Abe's death wouldn't have been used as a source of a political strife, his "dirty" side and his and his family's relationships with a particular group may not have been further dug up. These mess may well have damaged his image rather than promoting feelings of mourning for him nationwide. Also, it has been reported not many important people would make a visit to the government-led funeral as it hopes which is also embarrassing and face-ruining). Meanwhile, now comes the greatest Queen's passing away, for which everyone all over the world can unconditionally offer their condolence.
Those who bother to feel sorrow for him seem to be very limited, I think, except for his close family members and me, a woman with a great amount of spare time, in other words, jobless.
I was not a big fan of him when he was alive and active and am rather against the "everyone is a good person once they're dead" culture, but I began to wonder whether he deserved to be humiliated to this extent.
Before holding such a "grand" event, can anyone do anything for Mr. Abe's SNS account, which is still left untouched. It kind of reminds me of a roadkill.

安倍さんが撃ち殺されたときには、驚きましたが、正直言ってそれほど悲しい気持ちにはなりませんでした。
むしろ、ここ最近の「国葬」騒ぎを見ると、死んだ人にそこまで恥をかかせなくても...と、気の毒になります。
岸田さんがあんなに慌てて「国葬」って言いださなければ、安倍さんが亡くなったことによる変なごたごたもなかっただろうし、安倍さんの「人には言いにくい」事情や、ご自身とご家族が結んでいた特定の団体のとの関係がじゃんじゃん明るみに出てくることもなかったのかもしれません。こんな騒ぎになったら、国を挙げてその死を悼むどころか、安倍さんのイメージが悪くなるのでは。政府が期待したほど多くの重要人物が弔問に来るというわけでもなさそうですし（これも恥ずかしいし、面目丸つぶれ）。そこにもってきて世界で一番有名な、誰もが遠慮なく追悼の意を表す女王様が亡くなるという惨事。
安倍さんについてお気の毒に...と心を痛めているのは、近いご遺族と私（仕事がなくてめちゃくちゃ暇なおばちゃん）だけなのでは、という気がします。
私は安倍さんがご存命でご活躍の間は、熱烈なファンというわけでもなかったし、「死んだらみんないい人」的な風潮を全肯定するわけではないけれど、死んだ人にここまで恥をかかせなくても...ねえ。
そんなに大騒ぎをするよりも、安倍さんのSNSを何とかできないのかなあ。亡くなる前日からまったく変わっていなくて、言葉は悪いけど、車にひかれた何かがいつまでも道端に放置されているような感じなんですけど。
One More Typhoon ― 2022/09/15
Although Typhoon No.12 deflected away from Kyushu and became a low-pressure system, the newly developed and quite strong Typhoon No. 14, is heading towards us. It is forecasted to rampage around this island on 18 and 19 and make it way toward the Japan Sea. This year, fortunately we haven't been hit directly by a typhoon so far, but this time it different. There seems to be no way to avoid. I need to stock up on books to read and food to some weight again.
However, this may still be better than 2020. I still remember that at that time we had heavy rains almost every week. To top it off, we were (implicitly) forced to (or, asked to, as in the government word) bring masks and alcohol disinfectant (both of which were not available at the time) to the evacuation centres.

台風1２号は九州からそれて低気圧になりましたが、今度は結構強めの台風14号がもろにこちらに向かってきています。18・19日と大暴れして日本海方面に向かうらしいです。今年はこれまで幸運にも台風の直撃を免れてきたけれど、今度はどうも無理そうです。また本を食べ物を揃えておかなくては。
とはいえ、状況は2020年よりはましなのかもしれません。あのときは毎週のように大雨が降って、その挙句に避難所にはマスクとアルコール消毒剤（どちらも当時は争奪戦になっていたものです）を持参してくることが（暗に）強制（政府用語で「お願い」）されていたのを、今でも覚えています。

At 35℃ (in mid-September!), my ice candy bar softened quickly. It was literally a race against time to finish it.
9月も半ばというのに35℃。アイスクリームがすぐに溶けてしまい、食べるのは時間との勝負になりました。
