On Rice2011/11/10

One of my cooking philosophies: Put it on rice, and yesterday’s leftover becomes today’s lunch.

Example1: Sashimi becomes dzuke-don.

ヅケ means “to marinate”. Just throw some pieces of sashimi into soy sauce and sake mixture (and a bit of wasabi, if you like),

squid, and two amberjacks

and you don’t have to worry about what to eat for tomorrow’s lunch.

Dzukedon

Regarding the soy sauce, I strongly recommend using “sashimi zyoyu” (a kind of soy sauce specially made for sashimi, a bit sweeter and thicker than regular ones) for this particular dish.

Example2: Fried fish becomes fried dish-don (very straightforward!)

not looking appetising, though...

A fish-version of Katsu-don that you must be familiar with.  Hopefully less fattening than Katsu-don. Fat plus protein plus carbohydrate … very substantial!
