Their Styles2020/06/07

Recently, people seem to have found their own ways of wearing masks. The most meaningless and ridiculous way I think is so-called "Ago mask (chin mask)" which is placing your mask under your chin. This is not only unsightly but also dangerous because when you slide down your mask, you scrape all dirt, which could contain deadly virus, from your skin surface with the inside of the mask which you later put into contact with your nose and mouth again. People wearing mask in this way might think it is like wearing their sunglasses on their head, but this way is nothing but nonsense. Even TV reporters sometimes wear their mask in this way.

I also have seen people hanging their mask from their wrist (I call this Tekubi (wrist) mask), just like pouch or something and put it on when entering a building or passing by other people.

I think the above two methods are practiced mainly men over middle age but obachans are usually wear theirs properly. Its a mystery why ojisans attempt such dangerous ways. Or this might explain why ojisans more likely to get infected with COVID-19 than their female counterparts. This is just my guess, though.

Abenomask Revisit2020/06/08

One's trash is another's treasure.
The nationwide laughingstock Abenomasks TM has found their ways.
Some charity organizations are collecting them for children and homeless adults, and some vendors in Hakodate morning market (far, far from here!)  are exchanging them with their gift tokens.
Currently I stock them for emergency (I hope there will not be more emergency at least  in this year, though), but it might be worth thinking about donating them...

Today's Beach2020/06/09

deserted...
There were only very few people on the beach today.
Looked almost deserted compared to last month and the month before the last.
looks scary!
(on April 18)

Where have the people occupied here even on weekdays last month gone?
This doesn't mean this place is safe and clean now as almost 50% (by my rough counting) of people there did not wear mask, enjoying fresh breath without thinking they might be spreading something potentially life-threatening..

Meanwhile, the beach was being groomed with additional sand.

Are they inviting visitors this summer?
This place may still be a no-go place for me.

Choose Suitable Verbs2020/06/09

People tend to use words like "fight", "battle", or "conquer" when talking about COVID-19. Is it, however, the thing to fight when we actually can't see it with our own eyes? And how can we know we have conquered it when we can't confirm its extinction?
I recently began to think we should "tame", "control", or "get away with" it.

My First Paper Straw Experience2020/06/10

paper straw
A local Mister Donut has switched its straw from plastic to paper. It was my first time to use a paper straw in my life. It felt awkward to the mouth but I would get used to it as I have done with many things that are claimed to be "green," such as eco bags, LED light bulbs, rechargeable dry batteries and so on.
By the way, are plastic cups still OK to use in an eco-friendly world?

The signboard of Mummy Exhibition has been removed.

where has he gone?
                    ...and now.

I wondered where he (the poster mummy) is and found that the exhibition is actually touring across Japan and currently is in Kumamoto.
Fukuoka exhibition has been postponed until spring 2021. I hope their long tour will be safe one and to see them without mask next spring.

Today's Shopping2020/06/13

Hand soap has gone. But no need to panic. They should return in due course, just like masks and pasta.

I reckon nearly 80% of men, not only elderly but also young ones, do not wear masks whereas nearly all ladies religiously wear masks. I really wonder where their confidence (assumption) in their "ultra-super" immune system, which is so powerful that they neither get infected nor infect others, come from.. I think if you are a man and wear a mask, you would look extremely nice and caring.
