Oil Fence ― 2021/12/09
It was 28 November when a ship carrying bananas collided into breakwater in the eastern area of Fukoka port. The ship was badly damaged but no one on the boat was killed or hurt. Meanwhile, there has been no news about the bananas on the vessel.

Although the stranded ship has been removed from the collision site, oil spilt from the ship is still floating around .

Walking along Former Glories ― 2021/12/09
Many of buildings in this area were built in the 1990s, when we were still in an illusion of bubble age. To modern eyes, they not only look rather extravagant but have recently acquired a kind of beauty of withering due to lack of maintenance.
You can thoroughly appreciate a sense of Wabisabi (or witness how badly managed this city has been for the past 30 years) on your way from a local library to Fukuoka Paypay Dome. The followings are Wabi-Sabi points I have found so far:
1. signage of the library with rust and peeling,

2. a two-storied bridge

with ruined ceilling

and calthemites,

3. cracked pavements and

4. an abandoned open space.

With very few people walking, this route makes a good and safer-feeling walking path stretching around one kilometer. However, as there is no vending machine and public toilet, although plenty of benches and shades are available, you might need some preparation for some sorts of emergencies.
Another Hopeful News ― 2021/12/10

Here used to be PRONTO coffee for a quite long time. But the café was closed down in a relatively early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic.
After a long period of vacancy, the site will be occupied again. This time the tenant is Kinko's. Another sign of our economic recovery...hopefully.
At an Outlet Mall ― 2021/12/14

There was a peaceful and modestly festive atmosphere.
Gloves of Hope ― 2021/12/14

107 yen(including tax) at a local hardware store
A pair of stretchy warm gloves are essential to walk or cycle around in Fukuokan mild winter. The beauty of this kind of gloves is freedom of movement: they allow me to pick up changes putting them. They also withstand well with carrying heavy shopping bags and steering the handle bar of bicycle throughout winter (though they will be entirely covered with lint by March). If it get much colder, I just put on another layer of them.
Last year I even didn't think I should buy them because I didn't go out at all. So, it might be nice to get them this year, which mean at least I am thinking about going out little further and more often than I did last year. It might even be possible to pay a Hatsumode visit to a local shrine during the New Year period, which I couldn't this year.
Christmas@ a Shopping Mall (and Murder Site) ― 2021/12/20

This view reminds me of the late IMS building. Very much Mitsubishi-Jisho style...
Some More Christmas Views ― 2021/12/23

Is it only me who thinks this building's Christmas decoration has become cheaper-looking, no, simpler year by year?

Cyclamens are regarded as one of flowers representing the year-end and the combination of red and white signifies festive feelings. Together, these plants invoke a very Christmas feeling and I like this subtle way to celebrate a seasonal atmosphere.
A Bold Declaration ― 2021/12/23

I didn't know Iwataya no longer provide plastic carry bags. Long gone is when my flour was put in double layer of plastic bags even without asking... People of the 21st century would not believe department stores used to be the king of excessive wrapping.
