Today's Cat- 2009/09/162009/09/17

Follow me!
These two young boys were probably born in the beginning of spring, this year. Since then, when I go to a beachside park near our place, they are always there.
Today they were going to a routine inspection.

Fattening Season2009/09/17

Let's get fatter!
This time of the year sweet potatoes and chestnuts are in their best.
I used to assume chestnuts were available from the end of October, but today a local greengrocer told me that local chestnut season was almost ending. No wonder why I didn’t find any during real autumn (October and November).

Unlike ginkgo nuts , you can’t pick up chestnuts while walking. I saw some horsechestnut trees lining streets in the UK, but here that can’t happen because some overprotective mommies would say “what if anything happens to my lovely child because of the burrs!?” to the City Council if chestnut trees lined streets.
So you have to buy chestnuts, or penetrate deep into the mountains risking your life (actually every year many people go missing while searching wild plants and fruits). I'd rather buy them.

Anyway, both chestnuts and sweet potatoes taste great, and in exchange for their sweetness, are high in sugar and calories, not to mention a knob(s) of butter you add when having baked sweetpotatoes. I am 100 % sure I will put some weight.
My chemist said that we were supposed to be a little fatter in colder seasons so that we can increase our iimunity (Does his theory work on the swine ful?).

It should be OK to be fatter in winter if we hibernated. But we actually be active in winter wearing thick winter clothes. The problem is, winter clothes don’t seem to observe the laws of nature: their materials become thicker, but their size remains exactly the same as in summer. I mean, size 8 doesn't become size 10 in winter considering the consequence of the fattening food in autumn. (please remember in this country, a nation of "the thinner, the better", you have little choice if your size is over 12).
