This Year's First Soft Cream2017/05/18

light and refreshing!

The taste is light and refreshing with a slight milk flavour. You may say it boring.
I see your point. I would have thrown this away after the first lick if I were younger leading  a "No Fat No Life" life. But now, for my aging taste, this low-fat ice cream tastes better and gentler than fat- and carolie-loaded "aggressive" varieties.

Cake!

Chocolate Chiffon Cake (to be more precise, chiffon cake batter that overflew from a chiffon cake mould and was baked in a muffin cup) with ice cream and whipped cream.
My hands almost trembled with a sense of sin to serve ice cream, cream and cake at once. It is too sinful to wish there should be some sauce  (preferably strawberry, but apricot also sounds nice) on the cake, don't you think so?

Gold Rush!2017/05/25

Without our knowledge, Fukuoka has become the capital of crime related to Gold (metal). As far as I know, there have been at least four gold-related crimes involving an awful lot of money since last year, and probably more which have been undetected. Your see, if you find a cockroach, there should be thirty more!

Here are the four major gold-related crimes publicly reported:

1. Last summer, gold bars worth around seven hundreds of millions of yen were robbed in front of the central railway station;

2.In September last year, a man was caught at the Custom for attempting to smuggle gold worth 13million yen into Japan from Korea:

3.This month, around 380 million yen was robbed in the very heart of Fukuoka City (just a few steps away from the City Office and the biggest police office in the city;

4. Also in this month, four men from Korea, original caught at the Custom for carrying a ridiculously lot of  money, were arrested on the suspicion of gold smuggling.

I've heard that Fukuoka is a gold smugglers’ heaven because of its convenient location to the neighbouring continent and a variety of transportation (boat and aeroplane, and our signature close-to-the-city-centre airport)—and possibly the lax control.

Apart from the gold-related crimes, there have been a lot of unpleasant news here and there in this city—murders, car crashes which is related to a particular type of cars and drivers (but any real and convincing cause has never been released as long as I know), petit embezzlement by public servants, a holing up in a hotel, unidentified dead bodies (usually sorted out as suicide), oil spill from a sunken ship(we haven’t been informed whether locally caught fish is safe to eat by now), and a ground sinking in a very busy street… It’s hard to imagine the same amount and frequency of these types of events could be witnessed in any Japanese cities, or any other cities in the world (apart from some unfortunate cities in terribly unfortunate situations).  I began to wonder if this place is safe to live.

I used to avoid visiting particular places when traveling around foreign countries assuming they were too dangerous for someone like me who came from the safest country in the world. But now, I’ve found myself living in one of the most eventful cities in Japan (or in the world)!

I don’t understand why Fukuoka is so keen to attract tourists without addressing such a shameful and dangerous situation both for its residents and visitors. Am I wrong to think that public safety is more important than a new (and very likely loss-making) underground railway line?

(Perhaps) Fukuoka's Most Stylish Starbucks2017/05/26

at Ohori Park
On a refreshing and breezy morning, it felt like somewhere other than Fukuoka if I ignored flat faces and short legs of my fellow coffee (to be more precise, something I can't comprehend, like xxxx frapexxxx or xxxx maxxxxx) drinkers and of myself.

Did you know next to this place is  where a someone burnt himself to death recently...
My yeasterday's post reminded me that.

Fresh Green!2017/05/27

feast for the eyes

It's a miraculously beautiful day with plenty of sunshine, refreshing breeze, clear view .
On such a day, just walking to a supermarket can be a great entertainment providing a joy of early summer.

Bunny Saved Mouse2017/05/27

When a mousewheel  doesn’t work (in my case, I couldn’t scroll the screen though the wheel spun), it might be worth trying to dust the little gap between the wheel and the body of the mouse.

here the dust was

Working bunny

This little bunny (picture above) solved my problem by squeeze out the dust with its flexible little legs which can fit into any narrow gap. I was shocked how much dust was trapped in such a small space,

Good catch

slightly feeling my housekeeping skill is challenged...Have I left my place so dusty that even this small space is filled with dust? ….Anyway, after a quick dusting, the wheel started working again scrolling up and down the screen.

Actually, I mentioned about this little desk-top gadget 2 years ago here, and this time it did its biggest work: Saving my mouse!

However, I don’t think this method always works. If you try, please do it at your own risk.

My Oldest Ziploc2017/05/28

6years old
My oldest ziploc is six years old and seems to be still OK.
I began to wonder whether a ziploc has its life expectancy. It might be still working in my fridge even after I die.

Evening Walking2017/05/29

in cooler air
The most unbearable season seems to have started. It's time to start walking in the evening enjoying cool breeze.
But I have to make absolutely sure get home before dark not to get caught up in crime (though I guess even criminals have their choice...They would hardly target an obachan with empty pockets).
