A Fukuokan's Notes from Sapporo

Some pieces of sashimi (yellowtail amberjack).

To get fresh fish, I went to a local fishmonger for the first time in 2011. 

I ordered a sashimi-quality mackerel (700JPY).  Then, the fishmonger added some (probably) leftover sashimi  to my sashimi plate as a New Year present. This is very unusual in this fishmonger’s.  I assumed he was so proud of his expert choice of fish that he never felt necessity to give something away to attract customers. In fact, I have been shopping at his shop for five years, and this is my first time to get anything for free from him.
