A Fukuokan's Notes from Sapporo

Although most of this area of Fukuoka is covered with concrete and asphalt, there is one mound-like mountain that is all green.

This is a sacred mountain embracing a historic local shrine on the top.

After climbing the hill to the shrine (68m above the sea), near the top of the hill you will find a traditional wooden house you may have seen in books about Japanese architectures.

This is a café with a view.

The front of the building was all glass windows, and there will be a binocular on the table.

Am I supposed to have a peep at someone changing?  No, this mountain is one of Fukuoka’s bird- or animal-watching spots.

Surrounded by the great view and a poetic atmosphere, I had a nice cup of café au lait served with a little pudding (JPY600).

This experience is priceless… I wish I was wealthy (or self-indulgent) enough to say so.

 There is a cheaper alternative which I go for when the weather is fine.
