Right Person, Right Place 2 ― 2014/03/17

Traffic girls…? what is their job title? Traffic caster? Traffic reporter? Girls who report traffic condition every morning on TV. Like the Maruzen girls (see my previous post about them), I think they are an great example of “the right people in the right post”. I might be being rude to them, but their appearance does not draw much attention, which I think a perfect property for this kind of job. They do not look like someone on TV.

They are, um, more “normal” than newsreaders or other “look at me!!”type people you see on TV. They do not look extremely sophisticated or flamboyant (sorry! But most of us fall into this category, don’t we?), but decently civilised. And their voice and articulation sound quite professional. I can clearly hear (even with my aging hearing) every word they say. In fact, some of them have really good voice, I think. So we can focus on whether the road we are going to use are busy or not.

Again (as I wonder about the Maruzen girls), how does Japan Road Traffic Information Center find these ladies, and how did the ladies find this job? I haven’t seen a classified ad for this job. What kind of qualifications do I need to apply for this position?
