behind the building is the Fukuoka Tower

As Fukuoka City professes itself to be an “international city” and “Japan’s door to the Asia”,  Fukuoka City library stocks a wide range of foreign books as well as textbooks of Japnese language so that non-Japanese residents can enjoy books in their mother tongue while learning Japanese.

The languages available in the foreign magazine/paper section are English, Arabic, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Russian…and languages that I can’t recognise.
I put short lists of the magazines and papers available there:

…and more

Did I spell all the titles correctly?
I can go on with another long list of books, but as I am getting tired of looking into characters I haven’t seen, I stop here.

With the textbooks and dictionaries of each language stocked in the library, in theory, you can learn a number of languages while living in this local city.
I haven’t dared to attempt myself, though.

Despite being a native Japanese speaker with Japanese nationality, I have been benefiting from this section (I'm not sure if I am qualified, though).  I tend to borrow the Economist or National Geographic when I wish to show how intelligent I am (to whom?), but what I really enjoy is Good Housekeeping, especially “How I Have Lost xxx Pounds” type articles.

Am I a bit vain borrowing non-japanese books?

Today’s loan…
