Home Sanitation2009/11/27

It was announced today that in Fukuoka prefecture 58 new suspected swine flu patients were found between Nov.16th and 22nd, which is more than alarming increase. As long as I know, there have been at least 2 victims of the flu since it was found in this city.

Most public places are now equipped with hand-disinfect at the entrance. In my household, we also have invested in a considerable amount of money (by my standard) in the preventive measures against infection with A(H1N1) virus.

Some of them might worth introducing, or give you a laugh.

Disposable toilet

¥100 at a local ¥100 shop
In case the water supply stopped. You are supposed to pee or poo directly into a bag which is processed to deodorise the odour.
In many ways, seems difficult to use, though….

Hand disinfect gel

¥890 at a local chemist (the price can vary)
If you rub the gel into your hand at the entrance, your hands will be disinfected and you wouldn’t carry in germs. So it is claimed.
I haven’t used it. I guess at the moment the things are not as serious as I have to use it (too optimistic?).

Antibacterial gel air freshener

¥1.980 at a local chemist (the price can vary slightly, and often out of stock)
This air freshener is claimed to disinfect the room air in which it is set, because of chlorine dioxide in it.
I don’t know why that unfamiliar name fends off virus, though.

I have a feeling that I may get infected while thinking about  if I should open the package of these products. Simply because of my stinginess.

The bounty of nature! as I have spent too much money (on what? Don’t ask me, please) this month.
We can survive on them!
