Sounds weird?

In fact, in recent confectionery, “salty-sweet” taste is trendy.

Caramel flavour is a new vogue.

And decorative roll cakes are in demand.

All the trends are gathered in this small peace.

The centre of the roll is unset toffee with some grains of salt in it, covered with whipped cream, then they are rolled up with fluffy sponge. The outer layer of the roll is also whipped cream with caramel flavour.

Tasting it, I felt in my mouth something gritty due to the crystal salt in the toffee. Then my taste bud detected the salt. The sweetness of cream was emphasised by the salty aftertaste, which was not so bad at all.

However, I felt thirstier after finishing the cake than I usually feel after having “normal” varieties. Is it because of the salt in the cake, or am I developing diabetes which likely involve thirst?
